The natural world is my most profound influence.
The colors of the desert, the stillness in the woods, and the expansiveness of the ocean all fill my spirit and feed my creative soul.
Through my paintings, I hope to share the beauty and joy I seek in all things.
Art has always been a part of me since drawing with crayons at the kitchen table when my grandfather planted the seed that would one day germinate to my incredible lifelong journey of self-discovery as an artist.
After graduate school, I found a job right back at my old high school teaching art in the same classroom where I had felt insecure about my talent years before. While I loved teaching the many gifted and talented students, I found myself wanting to trade places with them.
I made a secret vow to myself that I would continue to nurture my love for art no matter what happened or what job I had. What I didn’t know was that my artistic path would be such a circuitous one.
When my children were born, I combined my calligraphy skills with some watercolor illustration and began crafting greeting cards for family and friends. What began as a way to save money and send messages to loved ones, actually grew into a full-blown greeting card business.
Within a few decades, Kathy Davis Studios managed a large portfolio of licensing partners, thirty employees, a retail store, and a “sister” non-profit arts center at our corporate headquarters. All those years of hard work culminated in the sale of my company.
The freedom I now have to work with large canvases allows me to explore the energy of abstraction and create something where before there was nothing. I paint to share with others the beauty and joy from the inner and outer world that inspires my art.
